Last week

It is the last week that my daughter will be living at home.  I made a few more cards.  She has been getting together with friends and has been packing her belongings.  She is planning to try out for the dance team, and has been working with her coach to prepare.

Getting ready for school

My daughter has been getting ready for college and we have been shopping for her dorm room and all that.  She has said that she would like to get mail so it would be something exciting to look forward to, and she said "Mom you will send me your cards, right?!?"  So I have been thinking of what I can send to her.  I already ordered a welcome basket through the college of snacks which I think she will love since she is one to not eat big meals, but does like to snack.  I just found someone to switch days with me so I can help her move in since it is over my weekend to work at the hospital.  So it is getting closer.  Tomorrow we are going to renew her drivers licence since her birthday is in September and get her a new pair of glasses.

For the birds

I needed to make a card for my Uncle Jay.  He happens to own an island in MN that has a beautiful cabin on it.  We were lucky to spend some time there last summer and were able to see a family of loons off the shore.  They have a very distinct call that they make to each other and it is very loud on the lake.  I added crystal lacquer to the water to give the shiny effect of the lake on a sunny day.

Making history

Kenny K came out with some new images which I think I darling.  I thought it worked so well with this TLC sentiment that is a familiar saying.  Bearly Mine has a challenge to have a charm on the card in which I used this cute flower charm that I had from Charm Me.  With all the flowers I thought it would be good for the Kenny K summer challenge.

He liked it

My brother- in-law liked his cardinal card.  We also gave him a bird feeder which was red with etched glass that had a rose in it and several bird magazines.  It is not the type of bird feeder that I would get; however, he did like it.  It was an adventure shopping with my husband so that was the fun part.

I made this card for my friend who has been supportive and is always there when I need her.  We are having dinner tonight so I thought this would be perfect.  The background is a fern stamp from Hero Arts that is stamp using the Peeled Paint - Distressed Ink and then I sprayed some water with the mini-mister on it and stamped some more.

Ted's Birthday

Today is my brother- in-law's birthday so I made him this card using a Susan Louise Clear.  For more information about this wonderful product, please see the website http://www.susanlouisearts.com/.  The site has a guest gallery which contains one of my cards.  Penny, the artist of the Susan Louise Clears, is a talented woman and I have taken many of her wonderful classes.  I chose the cardinal for Ted since he is into bird watching.

Didn't make deadlines

I was planning to finish several cards tonight to submit for challenges; however, I didn't make the deadline.  The reason was that my son wanted to go see a movie together.  Being that he is 15 and spends time with his friends or playing computer games, I thought I should take advantage of the opportunity.  So we went to see Harry Potter.  It was rather funny that he felt he needed to whisper a few details to me since he didn't think I had seen Part I, but I did tell him tonight that I went to the theater with a co-worker and he just wasn't aware of it.  He about went into shock.  I love when I can surprise him and leave him speechless.
