I'd snap

My Valentine card for my husband is a photo card since he loves photography.  It mixes the old-time vintage paper from TLC with the snap shot image of the Whimpsie Doodle sentiment which is like my husband using old and new.  I usually refer to him as my geek because he understand all the new stuff and modern technology and keeps me up-to-date on it even though he is much older than I am.  He quotes model numbers and can remember that kind of stuff when it comes to cameras and technology, but when it comes to his health and medications that is another thing.....then he relies on me.  So I wouldn't have a blog if it weren't for him, and I'm not sure he would be here since he doesn't keep his medications clear or straight if I don't do it for him.  We are a good team, and luckily for him that I am a nurse with a cancer background.

I love you

I can tell it is the end of the week...it took several attempts to get my son out of bed this AM for school.  So I worked on this card while I stayed awake to make sure he got up and going.  Even his cat would pace in front of his door knowing it was past the time that he was suppose to be up.  Not sure how he plans to make it in the military because Mom isn't going to be there to wake him.

Brighter days

Later today I have to go to a counseling meeting at the High School with my son who is a sophomore.  It is interesting to hear an almost 16 year old plan out his life goals, especially when they are not the same as what I had in mind.  His plans are to go in the military which scare me as a mother since we always think of them as our babies and never want to see them get hurt or even worse.  I am thankful for those who do serve and prayer for them and their parents who worry about them each day.  My godson is abroad right now and so is his wife.  Their daughter is being cared for by her mother since they are gone in active duty for a year.  The world is a scary place sometimes.
I made a card using this week's color palette from Play Date Cafe for a friend of mine that is going through some difficult times.  I thought these colors were a lot of fun.

Waiting

My husband had a MRI of his back to determine how the cancer is responding to the treatment, and now we are waiting to hear from the doctor.  I worked yesterday and then slept for two hours and took him for the scan.  He has had so many that it works best to take medication so he is relaxed and doesn't have pain, but then he really shouldn't be driving himself.  Unfortunately, he slept the rest of the day because of the medication.  We haven't heard back from the doctor so I am hoping that it is a good thing.  He had the scan because he was having more pain and we were concerned that the cancer had progressed.  It may be that he was having more pain because we took that short weekend trip and he was more active.  Maybe tomorrow we will hear something.  I work again tonight, and I just couldn't sleep during the day because I was hoping that I would be awake if the doctor called.  So I was able to make another card for my daughter and two more Valentines.  One of the Valentines is non-traditional since it is brown and blue.

Hang in There

My daughter will be returning to go back to college this weekend and she isn't looking forward to it.  Her roommate moved to another college so she will be starting over with another roommate.  Unfortunately, I work this weekend so that I can not help her move her things back since she brought a lot home (a girl needs her clothes and shoes).  It is also suppose to be bad weather so I am worried about her driving back and have encouraged her to go back early which she has refused to do.  Kids?!?!  I made the card for her since I will go back to sending her weekly cards again.  I may need to do it more often since now there may be roommate issues.

Valentines

I made a bunch of Valentines this morning.  One for my young nephew who loves tractors.   And since we have Siamese cats, I couldn't leave them out.  I had fun making these cards.  We are getting hit with a couple inches of snow, but it is slippery out so I guess I'm stuck inside....maybe I should look at doing some laundry and cleaning even though making cards is so much more fun.

Survived family time

I survived the family time in Minnesota, and we had a wonderful time going to the Mall of America and saw "Hairspray" at the Chanhassen dinner theater.  My kids love going to musicals and have done so since they were little because my husband conducted shows.  We have taken them to quite a few performances, and this is the second time they have been at the Chanhassen.  We even commented that no matter how tired and crabby my son was, that as soon as a musical started he was a perfect child.  They would sit through the entire show without having to talk or go to the bathroom - which is amazing since you can see many adults who can't do that.

I made the card with Mo's image for a friend who asked for a card that she could give to her vet that helped her through her dog's illness and through having to put him down.  So this is the card that I made for her.  The other card that I made was to use "A Day for Daisy" bunny image using Jen's sketch for this week.  And then, I used Ivy, from Krista Smith's Saturated Canary to do her Clean and Simple Challenge.  I love the eyes on her image, but with Ivy having glasses I used Crystal Lacquer to give them a special shine to make them look realistic.

Brr

The other night in Wisconsin we got 4-5 inches of snow.  That isn't a lot, but we have had a mild winter so far so it is our first major snow storm.  I think that is what inspired this card.  At least we were prepared for it and it didn't take long for the roads to get cleared.  I have the weekend off and we are going to do a little mini-vacation and head to Minnesota for the weekend. Yippee.  So I will quickly post my card so we can get ready to go.  Hope you all enjoy your weekend.

Well, I did another Magnolia Stamp using one of the new ones from the Sweet Crazy Love set called Cuddly Siblings.  I do think it is adorable, especially for this time of year.   I always find it special when kids can get along that way.

Cards for friends

I am making some cards for my friends as gifts.  One of my friends, her husband is into stock-car racing so I made her this car Valentine.  One of my other friends her Mom likes to have EVERYTHING ironed even the towels so I found this adorable vintage image that I thought would be perfect for her.  Then, Tiddly Inks has the new Wryn images so I couldn't resist making a card with the one.
