Verve

Well I love doing the Mojo Monday sketches and have done them quite frequently; however, I have not done the Viva La Verve.  I'm not exactly sure why except that they have to be posted to Splitcoast which I don't like to do as much because it is an extra step.  This month I did week 4 on Tuesday and then I decided that I may as well do the rest so here it is.

Blue skies

Well it has been raining all night so blue skies and an umbrella are appropriate.  I know my daughter said she was expecting that she was going to get hit with quite a bit of snow in her area so we will see what happens.  I have quite a few Kraftin' Kimmie stamps so I finally pulled one out last night and colored it for this weeks sketch challenge.  I know how she feels with a bad hair day.  My third card is this weeks Mojo sketch using the CR84FN colors scheme.

Passports

I took vacation time when my daughter has spring break from college; however, my son doesn't have off from high school at the same time.  My husband is going to be starting a new medication that just received FDA approval in January so we are just waiting for it to become available so he doesn't feel comfortable going on vacation.  Needless to say, he is still trying to get his pain under control.  So it looks like it will just be a mother - daughter vacation trip.  Neither of us have  been on vacation for quite some time so it is needed.  I have never had a passport so I decided it was time and thought that maybe we could find some last minute deal.  After I got done paying the fees, that is exactly what we will need to find, a DEAL.  WHOA - I couldn't believe the cost!  I gave my daughter some money to go to the Post Office where she goes to college unfortunately it was not enough so I had to send out an additional check.  Now let's just hope we get it in time and all works out.  I will need some ideas of good places to go with a 19 year old.  That is why my sentiments of my card are "Happy thoughts".

Edible

I made a card using the Verve week 4 Sketch and I used a Papertrey button I had on it.  My husband's comment was "This card, almost looks edible."  I guess he has been eating too many of the pastel M & Ms lately if that is any indication.  I thought it was a cute comment.  I also made a card using a Wryn image from Tiddly Ink that I colored some time ago and finally put it together.  I added some extra stars and stickles to bring out that hope of turning that frog into a prince.  My third card, I used Mo's new image of Carly which my husband also had a comment about the carrot being like a weapon to poke the bunny.  I was trying to use the colors for the Play Date Cafe Color Challenge so I wanted to use the Basic Grey Curio Paper which had the dark border so then I distressed the edges of the other papers with Memento Rich Cocoa ink to try to match.

Pink & Black

My daughter was with me when I was running some errands and we stopped into Michael's.  She does not like to go into craft stores so she says; however, while she was waiting for me to browse she noticed this wild pad of paper and talked me into buying it.  It was bright colored with zebra prints.  Naturally it is the way she would love to decorate her room.  So she talked me into making a card using this paper and this is what I came up with.

In my previous post, I put about the snow coming. Well we did get four inches of snow on Thursday night.  I worked on Thursday so driving home I thought it was beautiful Friday morning.  These are a few photos I took Friday morning after I did some snow blowing.  We usually have quite a few birds and squirrels scurrying around in our yard; however, it was quiet and peaceful this morning.

Its coming

We have had a mild winter, but now we are going to be getting some snow just when we are ready for winter to be over.  I think we are expected to get about an inch or so this afternoon and possibly upto three to four by tomorrow morning.  I have to work tonight so I don't look forward to driving in during all that since they don't like to clear the roads until it stops.  It will be interesting to see how it all works out since the weather forecasters can be wrong so often.

I made a couple cards that have more of a pastel - spring like feel to them.  The first one is a birthday card using Torico's new cupcake image.  She has several different cupcakes on Birdie Brown.  Then I did an Easter card using Karen Middleton's cat with an egg.  I used the colors from the Color Create Challenge which worked well for this card.  My last card is using Bugaboo's sock Monkey image which works perfectly for this weeks Cupcake Inspiration Challenge.

My sentiments exactly

The challenge at Mo's Pencil is "My sentiments exactly" so it is to add text to the Mo's image.  I used the "The Damsel" which is an image that I think shows a lot of drama along with a sentiment from TLC. I made this card and gave it to a friend who is getting a lack of respect from her son who is in his early 20's and her husband isn't showing any support when he is giving her this sauciness.  I feel her frustration.  She appreciated the frilly supportive card.

Lyndsey is pregnant

My cousin, Lyndsey is pregnant and I made this card for her and her husband.  I made it very neutral since they don't know whether it is a boy or girl yet.  I talked to her Mother the other day, who is soooooo excited since she was already putting together a crib when she is only 12 twelve along.  I can already tell you that this baby will be spoiled, but I wish her the best.  I planned both my children and the pregnancies seemed to last FOREVER.  I wanted my kids, but I did not enjoy being pregnant.  So I am glad it is her and not me.

I have been making so many cards in Red, Pink and White and I have one more for the Saturated Canary challenge that I was so excited when I saw this weeks colors for the Play Date Cafe.  I used a new image from A Day for Daisies and had fun using my yellow and blue Copics once again.
